Wiper motor cover

How can I tell if my truck is involeved in the wiper motor cover recall? In the recall section it says that 2000 models built in certain plants are included but it doesn't say which assembley plants are included. Thanks for any help given.

Stop by or call your local Ford dealer's service dept. Using their computer, they will input your VIN and determine if your vehicle is part of the recall.

So far I've received two recall notifications from FORD about this. My truck was built at the NORFOLK plant.

Also....the following was posted a few months ago by another member on this site:

"Anyhow, I was attempting to find out more info on this wiper motor recall so I could inspect the motor myself and came across this tidbit on BON as to how to get at the motor and the dates affected:

First remove wiper arms , remove cowel vent cover on drivers side, can't remember how motor is mounted on the truck , wiper module may have to be removed which requires hinge to be moved, there may be a sticker on the motor which has to be lifted up to reveal the birthday of the motor, affected build date 02-10-00 / 06-26-00."

I pulled my wiper arm off and the plastic cover..sure enough..the inscribed date on my motor cover was 6-19-2000....recalled.

Wiper Motor

Mine was built in Canada and was included in recall. They fixed it no problem. I hope they can fix my ongoing leaking head gasket

I copied all the number I could find on the wiper motor - nothing looked like a date! Unless it could be "04/10/0008", which could come out to be 04/10/00 - which would make sense since I have a build date of 04/28/00 - right in the middle of the recall!

Did I miss something? Could it be on the case in a location that I can't see?

I did find that when I had my windshield replaced the ham-handed tech broke all but two of the white plastic mounting nuts and they left a huge piece of glass behind . . . ! Just proves the fact that you can't trust any body to do anything right!

That is the date..on the outside cover.

Mine says 06/19/0001:17:33N12V
The second series of numbers is most likely the time of assembly.

Part number is right above it: F6DU-17B571-AB
