Question Fuel Gauge

The last couple of tanks of gas I have waited for fuel light to come on before filling tank. When I fill up the low fuel light stays on and the gauge reads empty. After I drive around and the vehicle is shut off a few times it starts working properly. Any suggestions as to where the problem is ?

If you have the engine running on a refuel, the gauge will not register for about 8-10 minutes. Once you turn it off and restart it should work fine!

Leaving the engine run during a fill up is a no-no, cold gas causes the engine to stumble from the computer trying to compensate for the cold gas and rpm's will drop and cause a surge...lol

I never fill the truck while it is running.

I had the same problem with my fuel gauge. After a fill up, it took several hours for the gauge to respond. Even after the vehicle was shut off and restarted. My vehicle has 8k miles and the fuel gauge was replaced under warrenty. No problems since.
