alarm chirp
disarm chirp
I, for one, think that alarm chirps should be outlawed... especially the cheap ones that merely beep the horn. Anyone that enjoys listening to that must think an alarm is a status symbol: "hey, everyone! look at me! I have an alarm!"
Hoop de frickin' do! You can just as easily listen for the click of the door locks, or see the parking lights flash when you engage or disengage the alarm...
Okay. I got that out of my system. I assume you have a factory installed alarm. If so, it should be in your owners manual. My system is after market but my son's 99 Ranger has a factory system. To disengage the chirp on that you had to turn on the ignition key (not start) press the programming switch (probably mounted under the dash where that electronic connector is) press and hold the button a few seconds until it chirps three times, release the button. Press and quickly release the button again and it will chirp four times. Now press the lock button on your remote seven straight times. (It will be chirping while you do this.) Then press the unlock button on the remote. It should chirp once and the system will no longer chirp when you arm/ disarm with the remote. Your neighbors will love you for it.
