trailer tow lightes fixed
i couldn't rest until i found the problem. so the rest of the world knows. the 98 (and i imagine others) has a fuse box in the engine compart next to the drivers fender and in front of the master cylinder. there's a 20 amp fuse in there that controls the trailer tow parking lights and reverse lamps. behind that box going towards the firewall is another approx. 6"x 2" box that has relays in it and between that and the fender is another box approx. 4" x 1". both these boxes have tape around them (like a DO NOT ENTER sign) remove the tape on the smaller box, open it and there's two mini-fuses in there, a 5 amp and a 20amp. the 20 amp fuse controls the trailer tow turn signal and stop lamps. i changes teh fuse, tested the plug and BINGO, we got lights. hope the helps out the next guy.
Hi Tele
So there was another fuse box etc...on the 98
OK....glad you got it fixed and updated cause i do believe that was mentioned here sometime ago....I think at that time i checked my 99SC and didnt find those extra fuses, but gonna look again.
Thanks for letting us know.
Good luck. OT

murphy's law
thank you!! thanks you thank you!!!
was just going to do the-- drive to the parts store and then to the dealer and try to trouble shoot over the counter. estimate of 3 lost hours. i was so happy when i opened up that little box and found a blown fuse.
here's my addition to murphy's law...
installing some shelving in my 16 ft featherlite. out of 224 sq ft of wall space on the inside of my trailer i just happen to hit the exact spot where my running, aux and stop/turn lights all are bundled together. and yes i proceeded to bury a screw to short them all out. lol.. what are the odds..
