Angry trailer toe turn signals

on my 98 f150, i have the trailer tow package with the seven pin connector. my 4 flat adapter was wired backward and cooked a fuse. the fuse was a 20amp in the engine compartment. i have the tail lights, electric brake, backup lights, power and ground, but the stop turn signal lamps aren't working. i've just about disassembeled the truck trying to find another fuse or relay and i'm lost. i did check every single fuse under the dash and in the engine compartment and their all good. i don't know how to check the relays and don't know which ones to check. the book doesn't specify anything for trailer turn or stop lights. i had everything working until i tried to use the 4 flat adapter. thats fixed. i pulled apart all the plugs leading to the towing plug and the problem seems to be some sort of fuse. i have no burnt or bare wires. believe me i checked everything i could think of. i know if i go to a dealer he's gonna point to a relay and charge me $50. so a little help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hi Tele

Yeah, know the feeling.....

Seems you really went thru system to find problem....You replaced one blown fuse....Seems when fuse blows, it protects circuit, wires, etc, so wires should be ok...

Im assuming that you did check the "7 pin connector" and when tested showed no stop/turn signal...

So you knew to go forward of that "7 pin".....

Besure to double check ALL fuses listed for trailer....Test each fuse or use known good fuse...If you just looked at fuse and it looked ok, that sometimes isnt good enough...I know drove me crazy cause i had an partially cracked fuse element....Recheck trailer stop/signal bulbs. there ok, right?

Cant recall which year. but someone posted here they found another fuse thats not listed in book....You said you took a real good look...so maybe that other fuse is not there? I believe it had to do with trailer electrics? Try going way back on this bd?

On the relays, one simple check.....with the ign. key turned on, unplug a relay, when you plug it back in, you should here it click, its working... I did get spare relay, put in fuse box, just in case.
Your manual shows the trailer relays in box under hood.

Sorry i cant help more, maybe someone else can. Let us know how you fixed it. thanks

Good luck.....OT
