Talking I have an Idea for the lights

The third brake light has two regular lights. Is there anyway to rig up the two lights to when you back up they come on as reverse lights? It would be pretty cool to add that for my truck

Thumbs up

Great idea . . . it seems all you have to do is cut the wire going to the light . . . splice it into the backup lights . . . then use the switched wire to power the lights under the side (oops - that's my plan) . . . that way the llights would only come on with the backup lihgts . . . wonder if there is a way to both?

This morning I tried the lights while backing up but with the glare from the inside lights they were really no help!

No Problem, you just need to diode isolate the reverse lights from the cargo light, this way when you turn on your reverse lights it doesn't trigger the interior lights, and when you turn on your dome (interior) it won't trigger the reverse lights at the tail lights.

You need to diode isolate both of them, at least 10 amp, should work fine.
Cost about 4 bucks at you local Radio Shack.

I already have thought of this, but I want to hook my cargo lights in a wig=wag fashion with a flasher relay to go off with my alarm.

If you need help with the diodes let me know.

GOOD LUCK

Which brings me to something. In Ontario (as with many jurisdictions) it is illegal to have rear facing clear or amber lights while proceeding in a forward motion. When turning on the interior light this turns on the cargo light (rear facing clear light). Why wouldn't Ford switch this like Chevy does?

ok i will just forget about it. I'm not gonna start cutting up my truck just to get those lights to come on. I'm not that very good with the electrical anyway. I thought i would just shoot the idea out there
