Power windows
I've been checking the boards, but don't see this problem so I thought I would ask.
I have a 2000 F150 XLT, and I am having problems with the power windows. At first, the passenger's window would go down verrrrrry slowly, almost stopping in the middle, but it would go up just fine with no hesitation. Last night, I noticed the same problem on the drivers side.
Anyone else have this problem, or is is "normal" for the windows on F150's to go down so slowly?
I just got the truck about a week ago, and this is covered under warranty (the passenger side problem was something I noticed while test driving), so I am going to take it to the dealer within the next week, but I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this.
thanks!

Hi Gerper
Someone here posted a similar problem.
I believe their fix ended up with more lube on the lifting mechanism. It was binding.
Anyhow the good news its under warranty. Downside you gotta take it back in.
Good luck. OT

I've had the same problem with my '97 XLT
I have way too much time on my hands some days so I looked into this a few days ago and mine are working much better now.
If you take it to a dealer, they have a silicone spray they use to lube the windows but had this done and it only lasted a few months.
My passenger window had a few problems: On the way up it would catch for just a moment and vibrate. On the way down it woud almost get stuck a few inches from the bottom.
I removed the door panels which takes about a minute and then pulled back on part of the door insulation so I could see inside. Using a grease gun with a long extention, I lubes the tracks for the window and then the window motor gear. This hepled quite a bit but it still had that small vibration on the way up. Thinking that it couldn't hurt anything I also put some grease on the window edge where it runs along the door frame. This fixed the vibration and now my window goes up and down with no problem and plenty of speed as well.
I'm sure that using silicone on the window edge would nave been more appropriate because it won't collect dust but for now this is just fine with me.
