02 F150 2.4 died while driving no start

truck started normally, drove less than a mile and truck shut off. gauges went down, no sputter or anything, anti theft light flashing fast. pushed truck home, checked all fuses, relays, all that. odometer reads 0000000 then -----------, anti theft flashes 1 6 code. put cluster into engineer mode the dtc code is DTc262. mechanic friend stopped over and hooked his computer to obd and kept getting error of not communicating with PCM. every gauge works, lights work, radio, cigarette lighter, cluster lights up, fuel pump energizes, im just at a loss right now any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Check the PCM relay. #not a mechanic. But my PCM relay failed a year or so ago.

Check the wiring at the PCM and that also includes grounding and fastening of the PCM. Also, look at the cluster connector as well.

That erratic behavior appears to be a wiring fault or loose connector.

When you are doing this, disconnect the battery before proceeding.
