Dash lights not working with auto lights

I have a f150 2004 lariat screw. Dash lights work on park and manual lights. However they don't work consistently on auto. The auto lights themselves work fine. Just not the dash. Thinking it may be a contact in the switch issue but wanted to know if anyone had been down this road before I try to take the switch apart. Thanks in advance...

Leave the light switch alone, there's nothing wrong with it.

Read the owner's manual regarding the auto lamp feature before responding.

Have no idea what you're getting at.. My owners manual doesn't mention anything about my dash / gauges lights and the auto lights feature.

Exactly. Read between what it does say and you'll figure out what it doesn't say.
