Re: Trailer Wiring

Hi All,
I have a 2011 Ford F150 FX4 and am looking for info or wiring diagram for trailer wiring.
I have installed a 30A plug receptacle inside my box for a FWC camper. I have ran a 10awg cable to my battery with thermal breaker. This question I have is to tie in the running lights.
rather than splicing into the brown wire on trailer plug on back of the truck i would like to tie it into the fuse/relay box under the hood.
I have confirmed relay 6 - is the trailer tow park lamp relay and switches to the running lamp brown wire in plug at back of the truck.
When I opened fuse box relay compartment noticed that relay 6 has a very small wire 20 or 22 awg leaving but at receptacle is a 14-16 awg.
Without cutting open wiring harness from the bottom of truck can someone confirm this wire runs directly from fuse box to trailer plug? And why the difference in wire gage?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated...
