CB,

Ford has issued a Recall on the wiper motor and housing! You may want to call your dealer and have it checked out.

The following was posted by another F150.com member a few weeks ago. I went out and looked at mine (after I received the recall notice)..and sure enough...I fall in the recall dates. The date of manufacture was clearly engraved on my motor cover.

"Anyhow, I was attempting to find out more info on this wiper motor recall so I could inspect the motor myself and came across this tidbit on BON as to how to get at the motor and the dates affected:

First remove wiper arms , remove cowel vent cover on drivers side, can't remember how motor is mounted on the truck , wiper module may have to be removed which requires hinge to be moved, there may be a sticker on the motor which has to be lifted up to reveal the birthday of the motor, affected build date 02-10-00 / 06-26-00."

Just thinking aloud...

I'm wondering if CB has Speed Dependent Wipers and it's not working right?

The other thing is he says something happens when he puts it in gear. Doesn't that lead one to believe that there's a problem with wiring in the steering column?

Try putting it in 4 wheel drive and see if the wipers work properly. I have the same problems with my 97. They work fine in 4X4. Do a search on this as there have been previous posts on this. I believe it is a switch on the transfer case that is causing the problem.

Never mind. Speed dependant wipers came out in the '99 model year.
