So today my battery light came on and went off again maybe 45 seconds later. It did this a few times during driving today and was not RPM dependent. The voltage gauge in the dash did not change at all. Can you have an alternator going bad and not see it in the voltage gauge just the battery light? Thanks!

 

I would go to the local auto parts store and get both your alternator and battery tested.
