My F-150 is an 07 with 120,000 miles on it. I have an issue with the dash brake light coming on. The light will come on & then go off. I can drive the truck for 25-30 miles & the light will not come on. Then I can drive a couple miles & the light will come on. I recently had a state inspection done & according to the shop the brakes are fine. The shop wants an hr. to diagnose the issue. Anyone have an idea why this light will come on & off for no apparent reason? It's annoying & I want to trade the truck in so I'd like to clear this up.

Have you checked the brake fluid level lately?

 

Also, pull the parking brake release and stick your foot behind the pedal and lift it. It may be part way engaged.

 

Brake fluid is fine & parking brake is not engaged. I even set it & released it a couple times just to be sure.

 

It's also possible that the cluster is failing. There's a number of things that can cause the symptom.

Someone who knows what they're doing will need to get their hands and eyes on it and actually diagnose it.

If you're trading it in, why bother? It becomes the dealer's problem after that.
