Aftermarket Fog Light Switch Mounting
Aftermarket Fog Light Switch Mounting
I currently have a temporary switch for my off road lights, I was wondering what everyone else has done to mount the switch. Where, what kind of switch, do you have any pics you could post??
Thanks in advance

Nice Ride jleinWeber ....
Well, I might be able to help you with your fog lights because I'm going through the same problem right now. I'm just one step ahead of you...
Open your Owner's Guide (that came with the truck) to page 17. It shows that the switch can be "pulled out" to operate the fog lights. I went out to my truck and sure enough, in the lights "ON" position, the switch can be pulled out. So, it's my guess that it is already wired for fog lights.
Next, open your hood and stand by the right front tire looking down into the engine compartment. Right behind your right headlight is a fog light connector all ready to be plugged into the other half of the connector and on to your fog lights. (You could install Driving Lights instead.)
Now, go over to the other side and open your Power Distribution Box. (You'll find a small tab to pull out slightly to open the door.) Have your Operator's Guide open to page 154. Down at the bottom of that page is a layout of all your fuses and relays. If you look down the list on page 156, you'll see that relay, at point 206 on the layout, is where a fog light relay goes. It's empty now. Buy one from your friend dealer.
Finally, look at page 152 in the Operator's Guide and at the top you will see a layout for your fuse panel. It is located right under your light switch at the bottom of your instrument panel. Pop the front panel off and pop off the black plastic inside panel. Now you can see all your fuses and five more relays. Look on the fuse panel layout for fuse 127 (fog light) as listed on page 153. Is there a fuse? Mine has one. So, I strongly suspect that the light switch is all wired up for fog lights. (Thanks Ford!)
So, there you have it. You and I are all set to install either fog lights or driving lights. All we need to add to the wiring harness is a relay to the Power Dist. box. How about that?!!!
Let me know if it works for you and I'll do the same.

Good idea but......
Bill,
That sounds like a good idea, but I already have factory driving lights. When I pull the switch out, the lights in the bumper light up. What I'm looking at doing is installing a switch for the aftermarket lights I have mounted on my brush bar.
Thanks for the input, though!
