Starter problems ! Help !!

I was on the forum a couple of weeks ago cos I having problems with my starter on my truck. Its a 2001 f150 XLT 5.4L. I replaced the starter multiple times but every time it seems/sounds like its grinding against the flywheel. So I had a mechanic install one for me he also put another starter on for me. and as usual he called me and said its doing the same thing still making the grinding noise. so I did some research and I replaced the firewall relay(starter relay), new flexplate, new starter even a new ignition switch and it still wont turn the truck over. the interior light and the headlights still work but it wont crank my truck. Im lost idk what else to do. And help?

Thanks in advance.

Did anyone check to see if the engine was seized, perhaps by a faulty accessory on the serpentine belt?

I agree w/ projectSH089, take the belt off and try to start it. Also DON"T use rebuilt starters. I have seen weak solenoids on these rebuilt units that cause the problem you are having. Grinding against the flywheel could mean teeth missing or damaged, mark the fly wheel and turn engine, check all the teeth until you get back to the mark.

Can you turn the engine over by hand by using a socket and breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt?

With an automatic, the "flywheel" is called a flex plate. You are saying the old one was fine, but now the new one is damaged? The only thing that can damage it is the starter. I'd bet you are using the wrong starter and/or flex plate for that engine.

Okay, sorry I tried to help, you obviously know more than I do, I'll shut up and go away. Good luck.
