Talking Ford System 4 Alarm

I am in the process of installing a Ford System 4 alarm into my Expedition. When I brought my truck in for servicing, I asked the ford technician what are his thoughts on the alarm system. He mentioned to me not to connect up the starter disable as the relay in the control module may cause problems later on.
What are your thoughts on his comments and has anyone had any problems with this alarm system?

Thanks for any inputs.

Red face System 4

I purchased the sys 4 about 4 mo. ago and had it installed by a shop that does dealer work. It seems to work ok I have not had any problems with it so far but I do have some concearns. If the door lock button is pushed the alarm arms itself, if the alarm is armed (which is always I think when the doors are locked) when you try to use the keypad on the door after pressing the first button the interior light comes on and sets off the alarm. The alarm will not disarm by pressing the unlock button on the fob ( the fob does nothing for the alarm it is actuated by the door lock unlock pulse. I have had problems sometimes trying to shut the alarm off. I also disabled the auto arming feature.

Howzit eddiepreston
I was reading your post and have some ? for you. You have the Ford factory alarm and the keypad. If you lock your truck using the keypad does the alarm arm itself?. And how much did it cost for the sys 4?. I plan on doing the same thing to my truck that you have on yours.

Question

I don't remember, I think it does but I am not sure. I think part of my problem is where the tech hooked up the arm wire, it may be on the wrong side of the door lock circuit. It is possible that if it is hooked up before the lock solenoid it may not arm when the door is locked manually either by the button or the keypad on the door. I paid about $99 bucks for mine and another $100 for install. When I get time I will dig around a little and see what the deal is. The alarm is made by Code Alarm and may be available on there web site.
