Key turns too far to start engine fix what?

I had my truck towed to a garage, they said the entire steering column needed to be replaced. I have searched online for this problem and found in most cases it's only the rod or the switch that needs to be replaced. Has anyone ever heard of an entire steering column needing to be replaced just because the key turns too far will not catch to start the truck?

Hey wcrsmiles,

Have you spoke with your Ford Dealer about this? Shoot me a PM with more info including your model year and mileage; I'll see how to best assist.
