I have a 1992 Ford F150 302 v8 A/T 2WD 163k, just purchased. It has been parked for 6 years. Owner tried to jump start engine did turn over. Next day with a fully charged battery the engine would not turn over. Pulled plugs no Hydro Lock. Replaced starter with Autozone lifetime rebuilt Starter. Plugs back in, good Battery. Starter spins but can not engage flywheel. Removed Starter and inspect, Starter Drive teeth leading edges shiney. Reinstalled with 2 flat washer shims 1/16 inch each bolt, still same problem. Suggestons please?

Defective starter, exchange it. Make sure they didn't give you one for a manual trans.

 

It seems to test ok. The bendix jumps out when we apply positive to the S and it spins but it does not seem to mess with the flywheel which is in good shape also. Thanks in advance
