'07 Power Point Replacement

Hey All,
My '07 FX4 front power point stopped working 100% I need to wiggle my cell phone cord and it won't stay on. The cigarette lighter works great though.....
Has anyone replace the power point socket? Do I need to remove the radio to get at it?
Thanks.

Do you know that it's not just your charger? Most chargers are cheaply made and will act exactly like that, like one I have that does.

Does it not work or does it work if you wiggle the charger ?
- Have both use cases in the same sentence.

to answer the question on replacement, if you don't have huge hands ( XXL glove size ) you should be able to get to it with only removing the trim around the radio.

It works if i hold it. Maybe I wore it out where the charger contacts contact the power point.

I would suspect the DC adapter, not the power point.

The power point is uniform, so unless you plug it in the same way every time, I don;t see how one spot could be worn out.

Thanks,
I actually do plug it in the same way. The power cord for the phone has a 45 degree angle on it so I always aim it down. If I aim it up, it works but all the weight of the cord and phone pull it down then it doesn't work....Real silly problem.

If it can be done, replace it with one of the cigar to USB adapters and a USB cord ( don't want to assume it is a newer phone )

It is starting to sound like the spring tension ( ground on the DC adapter ) is bent in too much.
- there are 2 on the one above, the half moons is what I am trying to describe
