License plate plugs gone awry

Due to the scientifically designed snow catching bumper, my license plate light plugs are shot. And you’d think they’d design a set up so you could replace just the plug. OH no, can’t have that. You have to buy a complete wiring harness that costs $70 per side. So here’s the dilemma. Can anyone tell me what year trucks I can take these plugs off? Pre 98 is what I’m looking for. I’m going to try to clip off a set at a bone yard and solder them on. Also, does anyone who has shared in this problem come up with any solutions to prevent further deterioration of the plugs? Thanx.

You can use pretty much any truck lic. plate plugs you want to. I know that from mid 80`s on have the same plugs. I used them before my self. Plus, I put on chrome light covers on my bumper also. Which you can`t buy any chrome for the newer trucks. I have a 97` Flareside ,went out and bought chrome replacements that go on a eddie b rear explorer bumper.LOOKs great too!!!!!

Thanx for the reply. My buddy got one for me off an Exploder? LOL....I saw it yesterday at the yard...should have taken a pic. I got another type of plug off an 80 sumthin or uther. It fit the cross pattern, so just add solder, and we have a new inspection sticker good till 02.

I worked for a month up in Carmel. Went down to Indy to get some beer from Alcatraz and Rock Bottom. MMMMMMMM......
