Pcm?

First let me thank you guys for lots of good information I've browsed upon while diagnosing issues, but I got a doozy so I figured I'd finally register.

My truck up and died one day and would not start back up. It cranks but just won't turn over. For a few days if I let it sit I could get it up for like 5-10 seconds to like 500 rpms but then immediately died. I jumped into it and thought it was fuel at first and ended up changing pump (sounded weak), filter, and pressure regulator.

Needless to say it wasn't fuel, but the fuel was still not getting out of the injectors so I figure its electrical. Checked the crank sensor and got 1 volt out of that. I used to be able to start it on ether, but even that stopped now. I'm thinking possibly PCM?

I recently had it put on a diagnostic machine and it was throwing all sorts of crazy codes like the coolant was reading 200 degrees which is impossible because its not running. That shop seems to think its wires running on the exhaust manifold but I don't want to pay them to try out "maybes"......Please help

I don't want to pay them to try out "maybes".
So you'd like instead to spend your money and waste your own time on "maybes" or guesses?

The '97 models were problematic from water damaging the PCM and causing all kinds of electrical problems - at least on the 5.4L's. Not sure if PCM is located same local or not on 4.6L but something to be aware. On mine, windows would roll up/down on their own and a few other things. Dealer wanted a chuck of change and I lived with it for about a year until cash for clunker came thru.
