Question Safe to attach jumper cables to starter?

Locked keys in 2008 F150, battery is dead, need to get a charge to use keyless entry. I tried to do the wire through the grill trick to pop the hood but the cable came unanchored. I was wondering if it would be safe to attach jumper cables to the starter to get a charge to the battery.

Thanks!

Yes, completely safe to do to get the doors unlocked and get the hood opened. You just need enough power to use your door locks, then charge your battery after door/hood is opened.

Yea just make sure you insulate around them, all the starter casing, engine, frame all of that is ground, don't want to short to ground....
