Suggestions For Power Sources

Merry Christmas!! I need two power sources and being an electrical wiring newbie, I need some help. My first need is for a 12 volt, 10 amp fuse battery (which I assume means "constant"). I was thinking that the motor fuse box would be a good source because there are four available slots and of the two that are occupied, one is for the PCM memory which means the power would be constant...right?

My second need is for a 12 volt, 10 amp fuse, key on hot. I'm guessing that means it's only energized when the key is "on". What would be a good source for this?

Thanks!!

Both of these, direct wire to the battery 2 14 AWG wires.

Put the Fuse as close to the battery as you can.

The constant, run to the device.

The second, use a relay triggered by the radio fuse to make the hot in Run / accy.

10 A constant you could get from a power point, but the 10A switched, not in the factory harness. Just best to run them both new.

For the switched source you COULD look into one of those fuse piggy back plugs.

As for the constant just run one from the battery like mr ss said. Just use the cab fuse

panel to find a fuse that is switched,,, which MOST of them in cab are switched,, if in

question just use meter to find out. Key off check fuse ,, key on check if power going

thru.

the add a fuse is a max of 10A, and watching what slot you put one in, is in order.

You don't want to install an add-a-fuse in a 5A slot and have the new circuit be a 10A.

If the max sizing on an add-a-fuse is 10A, the max load being used on it should be 8A.
