Odometer Issue

I know this is probably similar to a broken record, but I'm having a strange odometer issue that I hadn't been able to find anything about on any other posts so far.

Anyhow, My odomoter display is digital, My truck is a 2005 f-150. I went to start it and the backlight for the odometer was on, but no numbers/words. I'm wondering if it would be the instrument cluster like everyone else, or if it's something that might be cheaper. Either way I plan to have it fixed, I wouldn't want to mess someone around if I would happen to sell my truck down the road. I'm not sure if it effects my mileage counter at all(or if the computer continues to read) But that's my biggest fear. Any suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated!

How new is the battery? Are any of the gauges acting funny when you first start the engine?

Haven't noticed any irregularities from the gauges, radio or any of the few other powered devices within the vehicle, Gauges other than the obvious seem to be normal honestly. I've had the truck for 2 years with the same battery, not sure how long before I had it that it was changed. It'd probably be the only record that didn't come with the truck honestly. I figured with a fading battery I'd at least have stuttering starts or something, I'm not the biggest car guy though

These new vehicles with all the electronics give no warning when the battery starts getting weak. The only warning is usually when the gauges start flipping at startup and other electrical items may start acting weird. I would have the battery checked.
