wont start..
wont start..
2007 - 5.4 tritan - shifting cable bad (burnt middle piece) - got a new one and replaced it. Now it will not start. Battery is good.. lights come on, bells ding, checked the #108 fuse it's good. Why won't it start... can anyone shed some light? worked fine, started fine no issues or anything before the shifting cable went and then wouldn't start. Someone HELP (first time posting on here)
The cable you are referring to is the actual shift cable from the gear selector / shift lever, right ?
If this is the cable you are talking about, the issue could be it is not installed correctly / completely. Meaning that the gear selection lever might indicate the truck is in park, but the transmission is slightly out of park and the DTR ( Digital Transmission Range ) is not indicating that the truck is not able to be started.
With the key in the start position, check the Dark Blue w/ Orange stripe wire and the Tan w/ Red stripe wire for + VDC.
Dark Blue w/ Orange stripe wire is from the ignition switch ( fed by Fuse # 102 ) and the Tan w/ Red stripe wire is from the DTR to the starter motor relay, only when the truck is in Park or Neutral ( any other position it the DTR is open ).
My SWAG is that the DTR is not closing the switch contacts and either there is an issue with reassembly after replacing the cable or the cable setting is not correct for the gear selector to transmission actual gear selection.
