Alarm honks like I keep pushing key remote FOB alarm over and over

My 2002 F150 Crew Cab.....

When at park when car is off, the horn starts honking and the lights start flashing, the doors start locking (and unlocking) as if I am hitting the key FOB to set the alarm....

I am not doing this as I lost the keyless entry remote years ago. It does not happen all the time and sometimes can go a whole day....but then all of a sudden the horn honking starts. It is not a steady honk.....but SOUNDS like morse code when honking.

Another odd thing is that sometimes when driving, the power locks cycle up and down.

What could be causing this. I need to disconnect the battery every night or when I park it.....even to run into the store.

Is there a fuse or relay that I can unplug? No other electrcal systems seem to be affected.

Thanks.

Chuck

Chuck,
there should be a BSM (body security module) under the dash on the left side kind of above the emergency brake. That's what controls those things. See if there is a plug in on it (should be). Try unplugging that. That should end the gremlins that have been messing with you. I caution you that I don't know if that will carry any possibility of disabling your ignition. Simply don't know if there is that risk or not. You didn't say if it is a factory alarm or not and even then they sold factory installed and aftermarket Ford alarm that may have been made by the same company but worked a little different. If it is aftermarket (either Ford or outside aftermarket) you should be able to trace the wires and disconnect them because they usually only tap into factory wireing. If aftermarket, you MAY be able to just locate the power wire and disconnect that. On an '02 I don't think they used the chipped key so it is probably simpler and less risk than the '04-up NB. Good Luck

(either this or find the guy who FOUND your remote and is messin with you)

OK....some extra info....I see a white "module" the size of an iPhone. Not sure if that is the BSM. It is directly above the parking brake. more than one plug/wires coming out of it. I do not know what you mean by after market alarm. I think this is a standard Ford alarm. The key is chipped. But if it is that module controling the locks.....and IT IS GETTING WORSE....then perhaps it is something I can order on line and replace?Wonder if I can upload a video. The power locks cycle up and down all the time I am driving. It is insane.

Thanks!

Sounds like you found the CSM ( Central Security module ).

This is where you are talking about

This is the module ( has a 5 digit code on it )

The function of the locks is in the CSM ( the RAP it was 3 external relays ).

The threads I can recall having the door locks cycle were caused by a leaking windshield.
Might want to check the floor for signs of water damage. One point where people find it is under the driver's side kick panel, pull the panel and the carpet is wet and / or the body pan there is rusty. The other area is at the top of the carpet where it ends on the firewall.

Have you tired entering RKE programming mode, and once in just exit ( entering RKE programming mode erases all previous remotes ) ?

If erasing the CSM does not do the trick, you can try a bone yard for another CSM.
You need a CSM, the RAP is not 1:1 interchangeable ( more than just the external lock / unlock relay set ).

Build date of 2-OCT-2000 and newer are CSM parts.
