4to5 pin trailer hit wiring..?
4to5 pin trailer hit wiring..?
my dad has a 03 f150 with no towing package or anything on it and its got the stock bumper hitch and the stock 4 pin connecter for the lights and what not.. well on our boat it needs a 5pin (flat) connector, the 5th pin being the one that tells the breaks on the trailer to release when you try to back the trailer up..
we bought an adapter and the thing plug in to the stock 4 pin then the 5th pin instead of plugging in, it has a wire that u just splice/wire up to the reverse wire(blue wire).
my question is.. is that blue reverse wire already installed on the truck or would i have to run one from the front of the truck or where ever need be. Also if its not there, can i just wire it up to one of the reverse tail lights? (hoping that would give the signal to release the breaks..)
