Instrument Cluster Replacement...

So, for a while now, I'm seeing this when I place my instrument cluster in diag mode...

Everything I'm reading points to needing to replace the instrument cluster. However, my concern is whether or not I need to let the dealer do this (odometer concerns) or is this a task I can perform myself?

I found these...

But, if the cost of the dealer taking care of it is roughly the same, why would I want to do this myself?

In the end, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my truck and all the dials and LEDs are working properly, so is this just an unnecessary expense? Thanx.

If you don't have a problem when you don't put it into diagnostic mode, why is this a problem?

BTW, you might want to observe the note on that page regarding the original cluster board...
