A different dome light issue

2005 f 150 supercab. If i get in truck and start it and close the door, the door ajar light goes off and so does the bell. This happens on both doors. The dome light however doesn't go out. I have to turn my dimmer switch all the way off to get it to go out. I did spray wd40 to both door latch switches and even replaced the drivers side. No change. I also switched out the dimmer switch with my buddy 2005 truck and still no change. Lastly I tested at carquest all 4 relays in the fuse box and they were fine. What now?
Thanks Tony

time to....

start looking for broken wires

check the grounding points

could be a ground issue with the body control module...

Most likely, the dome light is supposed to stay on until the ignition key is turned to ON or else the entry/exit delay times out.

If it goes out when you move the key to start the truck, it's probably normal. You might want to check your owner's manual to see if it offers instruction.

It happens when the truck is running.

I'm having this problem as well. It happens at random times when driving, and the lights can pop on when parked in the driveway.

No door ajar light, no ding, but I do get some response by hitting bumps (sometimes).

I'm at a loss.

If you have power door locks, I would start with checking the connector at the VSM ( vehicle Security module ) - on 2004-05 MY this was called the BSM ( Body security module ).

The door locks and door ajar indicator is generated by the VSM, and the indication of open or closed is sent to the instrument cluster over the UBP network.

With a non power lock system, the door ajar indicators are direct to the instrument cluster, which might point to an issue with the cluster itself ( as the door ajar lamp is out, but the interior lamps are on )
