1998 ford f150 2wd 4.6 wont start

battery was installed backwards!! ugh... trying to fix for a friend. wont start from the ignition switch, but if i jump the solenoid from the ignition connection it will start. park lights are staying on constantly and the security light is flashing abnormally fast. ive checked all the fuses twice inside and out along with the fusible link. any help would be greatly appreciated in trying to diagnose this.. im guessing it is a fried ecm but that security light inspires my curiosity. thanks

The security light in the cluster on the 97/98 MY is from the RAP ( Remote Anti theft Personality ) Module. There is a key cylinder tamper section of it, along with the door entry part.

If the security indicator is flashing, sounds like it is toast, but that is a SWAG with the flashing light and being able to jumper the solenoid to start it.

Might be difficult to find one, you can try the Ford dealers that sell parts online or the bone yard.

ok so rap... anyway of testing this or is there anything else that i can check, oh and if forgot to mention the power door locks dont work now, so i guess that kinda backs up the rap suggestion, but if there is anything else i can check i would appreciate it.. also would that affect the park lights? again thanks for replying
