High mounted brake light flashes

I just noticed that the high mounted brake light on the bed cap on my truck flashes with the left turn signal. I bought the truck used earlier this month and the cap was on it when I bought it. It looks like the brake light is tapped into that turn signal light. Is there a wire in the back of the truck that is for a brake light and not a turn signal? If not where can I tap into the high brake light on the cab? Thanks

Hi.

Your wiring harness for the third brake light is located under the headliner, toward the back of the cab. It's really hard to get to. It might be easier if you spliced it right at the third brake light without accessing it's wiring harness.

I hope that helps...

Thanks. I have a cap on the bed of the truck so getting to the light on the cab is kind of tough. I was thinking that the power for the light comes from some place under the hood and I can get to that and run a wire back to the light on the cap. I'm going to be running 12V back to the bed for the light in the cap and i thought I can pull that at the same time. The light in the bed cap is hooked up to the parking lights now and it's a PITA to use the light when camping.

Hmm... Maybe you can access it from the fuse block. I wonder if you can splice it right from the fuses.

Good luck.
