Having problems programming remotes/turning off autolock.

Last time I remember being able to turn off autolock or program a remote on my truck was before I Installed a new Sony stereo. Could that have anything to do with it? Autolock is on and does not want to turn off, no chirps or anything when trying to program it. Same thing with the wireless remotes, trying to program them the doors automatically lock on the 8th time the key is turned to on...actually even the 5th...6th...20th...I think it's because of autolock. How do I fix this stuff? Absolutely no chirp at any point in trying to disable the autolock or trying to program my old and new remotes.

Hmmm, is my theft light supposed to be blinking all the time with the truck off and on? I've been trying to program this thing and still no luck.

I know when I programmed an additional factory RKE fob on my '01 it took 3 or 4 times to get into programming mode.

I could have swore that I did the off-on combo the same each time, but obviously I did not.

You have to really haul butt through the sequence, it is 8 complete cycles < 10 seconds and then you only have 10 seconds to start programming the remotes ( and you have to program all of them again, entering programming mode on the factory system erases all of them ).

Same for the autolock, it is 30 seconds to complete it, and I think it is 8 or 10 seconds to enter programming mode.

it is meant to be a fast process, so it is not an accident when entering programming mode.

Don't forget if you try it and it does not work you have to wait either 30 or 60 seconds to try again, you can't keep trying to hit programming mode.

You can check cab fuse panel fuse # 29, but I would think the CSM would not function at all ( the autolock would not function at all ) if this was blown.

The other use is engine compartment fuse 8 or 115 depending on cab configuration.

The theft light does not go out when you turn the key from off to run ( do not start ) within 5 seconds ?

Yeah, guess the theft light does come off once the key is in, could have sworn it was still blinking while driving.

But the fuse stuff. I take out fuse 29 which looks fine (don't have anything to test it with, can a multimeter be used?) and truck still runs without it. Take out fuse 115 (fuse 8 isn't there) with fuse 29 back in and truck still runs. Take both 115 and fuse 29 out and truck still runs. Is it supposed to do that? I'm thinking about trying to disconnect the negative battery cable to see if that resets something. And with either of those two fuses disconnected autolock is still going off and on with the key.

Those fuses are for the CSM, not integral to the truck operation ( a truck can be ordered with or without this feature ).
Testing the fuse while installed uses a multi meter or test light.

With the fuse installed :

Cab fuse panel fuse #29 is only hot in the run position.

With the key in run, use a the multimeter set to DC Volt and use a known good ground with one probe, the other check both pins on the back of the fuse.

If you get + DCV on one side and not the other, the fuse is blown.

The other fuse in the engine compartment is hot at all times, so key position is not critical to testing it.

Well, I was finally able to get in programming mode it seems. But you know how it's supposed to lock when it's in programming mode, looks like it doesn't do anything when autolock is on (or maybe it would have unlocked if I had started with locked). So I got both my old remotes to work but sadly it seems my new remote is either defective or I got the wrong one for some reason. And I still cannot ever hear a chirp when trying to turn off my autolock.

Are the locks working correctly with the RKE fobs ?

just wondering if you are having an issue with the power door locks..

Well, when trying to program the remotes my turn signals started flashing for a few minutes then I figured out one of the remotes was making the turn signals go off and on. Looked like pressing both buttons turned that off, whatever that was. I tried to reprogram it again and it worked normally again. And my driver side door is having some trouble locking/unlocking, I sometimes have to press the button a few times.

sounds like the lock actuator needs to be cleaned / replaced.
