Question Mattbert!! PIAA Install help!

Mattbert (or other PIAA installers),
I am going to install the PIAA airdam and 520's tomorrow. I have searched all the threads here, but cannot find what wire to tap into for the PIAA relay wire in order to run the 520s with the factory switch.
I saw that this is how you wired your 520s and I was hoping you could clue me in.
I have printed out all the instructions (great stuff you guys) on doing the "fog on with high and low beam" and plan to do this as well. Anything special about doing both the PIAA install on the factory switch AND doing the high/low with fogs splice trick??
Many thanks in advance.

Rock

Basically I just disconnected the bulb from the stock light and the connector had two wires. One is black, thats ground. The other one (colors of this other wire vary) is the one to splice into, I think mine was turqoise and white if I remember right. That's the wire you splice the wire that goes from the relay to the switch. Wiring it this way you wouldn't need a switch at all, it would use the stock switch.
Now, if you wanted to have a switch and wire them into the fog lights (and this doesn't make much sense at all because these would be replacing your fog lights) if, say, you wanted the possibility to turn on your lights only when your stock fog light switch was activated. If thats what you'd wanted, you'd hook it up according to the diagram and the harness included. Then you'd take the "hot wire" (the only wire that doesn't have a connector on the other end) and splice that into the fog lights, same one as we used before.
Hope that helps.

Smile THAT'S IT!!

Mattbert,
That's exactly what I wanted. The same way you did it, 520's controlled by the factory switch.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm logging off and going installin'.
Thanks for all the great install photos and info Matt. Will make the job MUCH easier

Thanks Mattbert

Matt,
Just wanted to say thanks. I got the airdam installed and wired today. I waited for nightfall (midnight here these days!) to turn them on. They are in need of aiming...badly. I'm lighting up 40' off each side of the road...about 10-20' up!!
I'll get that tomorrow.

Anyway, thanks for all the instructions.

RockOFFROAD- Glad to see another Alaskan up here. Now I guess I'm not the only one with a PIAA airdam up here.

Jupiterak,
Hey! Anchorage huh? I've seen your posts before but never caught the signature!! I spend quite a bit of time up there on business. Usually fly up vs. drive though.
I was thinking of getting a "F150online" sticker, but thought..."who the heck is going to see it??"
Did you order your PIAA stuff or did you find it local?
Take care man. See you around town sometime!!

I got the airdam locally (SixRobbles) and the lights from carparts.com. Post a pic of your truck when you have the time.

you guys had both better watch out, my brother is now a member of the anchorage police department. Jupiter, I already told him to look out for yours . His wife (my sister in law) said she thought she had seen your truck around town but wasn't sure. His name is Jason Adams, I don't remember if he gets his own car or what, he just started about a week or two ago. He's been up there with the army for quite some time. he used to have a 97 F-150 but now hes got a 96 Explorer (raw trade with my parents). He's about 6'4" skinny bastard short compared to me at 6' 8"... might find him at strip clubs, LOL. If he pulls you over, tell him who you are, and he'll probably let ya off .

Cool

Mattbert- thanks for the info. I'll remember to look at the officer's name badge when he pulls me over. Be sure to tell him to go see Alexis at the Great Alaskan Bush Company. What a gorgeous babe!! Tell him congrats with his new job; it's VERY tough getting hired with the police up here.

Mattbert,
Agree with Jupiterak, Hopefully I won't have to meet your brother due to an infraction!
I bet we can spot his cruiser though...maybe a few PIAA lights on the bullbar..?? Heh Heh.

Jupiter,
A little bit off-thread, but I'm looking for Westin step bars for the truck, have you found anywhere in Anchorage that has them without wanting my first born?? I'm heading up to visit friends next weekend, thought I'd pick a set up while I'm there. I checked the on-line stores.. found them for $190/pair from grillguards.com, but they want $109 to ship up here!! They said they can only go 2nd day air! Ugh. Any ideas?
PS will get a pic of the truck soon, haven't had the digital camera out in a while..I need to get one soon while it's still new!!!!

Thanks,
Rock

naw... I don't like him enough to give him any PIAA's... LOL. It's got a gold explroer, nothing special about it, it probably owuldn't catch your eye or anything. Only thing unique about it is the airdam is cracked where my sister ran over a 2 foot high pole (supposedly to avoid the car that was coming right at her, either that or she was talking on her cell phone and lost her sense of keeping it on the road, LOL). I'll have to point him to that strip joint, though I'm sure he's aware of it .

RockOFFROAD,

If you don't mind waiting a few weeks to get it. Try www.Carparts.com But first go to www.importhookup.com and follow the links to get the 20% off deal at Carparts.com This is where I buy my Piaa's or KC's from. You will have to get a part #, because they now list the regular and CPS line of nerf bars.

My brother ordered some chrome Westins for his Chevy Silverado a few months back. The shipping cost him around $45 or so, but it took two weeks because it was B.O. They shipped it UPS.

You can try SixRobbles or Muffler City here in Anchorage, but they will hit you on the shipping.

BTW, I have a Genuine Steel Products euro grille gaurd collecting dust in the garage. It's never been used and it's in black. It's the same one on Mattbert's truck (see above). I have no use for it because I have a body lift. If you're interested I'll sell it to you for $50.00.
