Electric guys help me on this please

Now I've never noticed this but tonite I turned off my stereo(aftermarket) and my lights on my bull bar turned off??!! The lights have a switch that is suppose to control them in the dash and even in on position if I turn the stereo off they go off. I never knew it was tied into the stereo somehow. Is this normal or is something wired wrong?

This does not sound normal, and from the post I take it you did not install them ?

If you have the radio off, and turn the aux lamps on, do they work correctly ?

Lights were installed by local truck accessories guy. Radio was installed by audio place way before I had the lights put on. If I have the radio off the aux lamps do not work correctly. Hoping the truck guy is there tomorrow so he can take a look & let me know whats going on.

Depends on your skill level, basically you need to move your power wire off the radio circuit and go to a different ignintion conrolled voltage wire

Do you have a meter or test light ?

Wanted to know if the power to the switch looses power when the radio is off.

If you can confirm this, that is a start.

How long ago were the lamps installed ?

Crazy thing is all this time Ive never turned off my stereo but wed night I did accidentally and noticed they(lights) went off so they could have been like that from day 1. They are the most recent mod with electric i have done to the truck. Going by the accessory guys if he is open tomorrow so I can see what he thinks is going on and if he knows they are being controlled by the radio.

Tried to get ahold of the guy today but he is out til monday. Went to audio shop and told one of the installers what was going on and they think he is tied into the stereo and it should be ok if there is a relay switch. So now I have to wait til monday and check how it is wired.

Might want to stop using them, there are a lot of uncertainties with this sentence, especially considering the way the install appears to have been done.

Thanks for all the feedback and helpful info scully. I will go ahead and stop using the lights until I can get word back from the guy who actually installed them.
