Weird 12v issue
Weird 12v issue
2008 F150. The 12v for the cigarette lighter stopped working. At that point the other 12v worked. Next time I got in the truck, the aux 12v stopped working and the 12v for the cigarette lighter started working again.
Any idea what the issue is? Do they use the same fuse? Or separate? At first I figured it was just a blown fuse. But since they're switching back and forth I'm not so sure.
Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

There are 2 different fuses. Check your owners manual.
might want to make sure the fuses are fully inserted in the slot.
Question is, what are you using to confirm that the power port or cigar lighter is not working ?
If it is the same DC device with the same power cord, you might want to look at the device having an issue, and check the power port and cigar lighter with a meter.

Start by using a meter to confirm that they are working.
when either device shows it is dead, use the meter to confirm, could be an issue with the ground pin on the side of those items incorrectly calling the power port or Cigar lighter dead.

Thanks man. I'll look into that. I appreciate your help. I'll report back with my findings.
So the manual stated the fuse box was under the instrument panel. It's on the passengers side.
Also, the manual made no sense at all. Even my friend who's a mechanic said "you do it, you're smarter than I am." And, "the problem is cause it's a ****in' Ford." Ha. Apparently, he doesn't like domestic.
Anyone have any fuse diagrams or anything to point me in the right direction of which fuses go to the aux 12v and cigarette lighter?

It is not a very good description. It is easy to see the person that wrote the fuse panel location description did not write the fuel inertia switch location ( that one made sense in the 2006 OM ).
The part we call the dash is actually the instrument panel. Where the gauges are is the cluster ( what things are generally called vs the correct name for them ).
The fuse for the cigar lighter is fuse # 110.

The power point in the instrument panel is Fuse #117.
