What do you need to run a cb?

Hey guys, I am wanting to get a cb radio. I dont want to spend too much money though. This will be the first one ive had and I was wondering if someone could tell me everything I need to run one? I have heard there are some full kits but I was wondering if I could put a 8' whip antenna with these kits. Anyone?

You might get more replies if you put your truck in your profile &/or signature.

8' is the wrong length for CB frequencies. IIRC, 1/4 wave is ~6', so 1/2 wave would be ~12'. Modern radios work better with 1/4 wave.

i would look for a cb shop at your nearest truckstop, or if you know any big-riggers, they are usually upgrading all the time, maybe someone will have a good setup for cheap. at least give you advice or steer you to a good shop. 10-4.
