Odometer going nuts, not the cold solder

Vehicle is a 1999 supercab lariet..with 42000 actual miles.First question #1)Did the odometer repair about 2 yrs ago and has worked great.Last week my odometer started acting crazy. The numbers would flash like a sequential tail light ,or flash etc.no set pattern. Then as sudden as it started ,it would stop and b fine.BUT,if I put my headlights on ,8 outa 10 times ,that would start the crazyness again. So far this week ,it has been fine.No obvious trouble with wiring.ALSO,the actual milage would kinda freeze, meaning,I could go a mile and have no change in the reading, then suddenly ,it would show the actual milage. It never totally stopped showing a readout by going dark, just stuck on a reading ,then coming back with correct reading.
#2 Down by my oil filter ,the wire that I believe goes to the oil pressure sender ,there is an additional plug with what loks like a 2 wire connector. It connects to nothing.Any idea what this may be?Thanks for all replies.
