Help! F-150 Windsheild Wiper Problem

I have a 1997 f-150 that has the not working, wipers/key chime/dome light problem. I have read some posts about the problem but no one has posted what the solution to the problem is. I have checked the grounds, fuses, relays with out any luck. If I remove the negative cable on the battery and reconnect it after a minute the problem goes away for a little bit but returns. Any one know how to fix this?

You're saying if you disconnect the battery temporarily, the chime returns, the wipers work, and the dome light works? The wipers often fail due to the MFS, but it doesn't affect chime or dome.

so there are 3 problems ( your post is not clear ).

The Dome light problem, what is wrong ? Won't go off, does not come on ?

Wiper problem ? Ghost wipers ? don't work on intermittent ? don't work at all ?

Key in cylinder Chime problem ? Won't turn off, stopped working ?

Please provide some detail on the symptoms, rather than naming items in the truck.

The wipers chime and dome fail all at the same time.

When they work they all work.

When they don't work they all don't work.

When they work they all work the way they are supposed to, all the speeds off, on, etc.

Yes if you disconnect the battery and reconnect they will work but only for a short time.

I cleaned the outer ****/wiper part of the MFS switch no change.

Crazy I know, Thanks for the replys!

2nd time, need a SYMPTOM description. Fail is not a symptom.

The wipers failing means when you turn the wipers on, nothing happens on any speed ( intermittent to fast all positions nothing ).

The key in cylinder chime when you open the door is it a case of with the key in and you open the door nothing happens or without a key in you open the door and it sounds ?

The dome light, is this you open the door and they do not go on, or they will not turn off ?

I finally got this solved after many months of living with jumper wires to make my wipers work. I thought it would good idea to post my solution hope it can help some one else.

Turns out it was the GEM module. The one in the truck got blown out due to a faulty power saver relay. I could hear the relay clicking before the GEM went out and I thought it was the Gem. When I finally found the right module for this truck and replaced it every thing started working again also replaced both relays in the under dash fuse box.
