Backup lights won't go off
This is my first post. 2000 f150 lightning will not make a sound when key is turned. All electrical works but radio. With key off and out of ignition, reverse lights stay on. Any ideas?
What do you mean won't make a sound when the key is turned ?
- Not too sure what you are expecting, seat belt indicator ( could be turned off or unpluged )
- Key in ign warning with door open ?
Just a few examples of what sound could be going on, but dependent on what you are doing.
Radio : did you check the fuses with a meter for the radio ?
- Cab fuse panel #1, #8, #20, without the CD changer.
reverse lamps : Sounds like either the DTR ( digital Transmission Range ) sensor on the driver's side of the transmission is shorted from pin #9 to pin #11.
Best to check with the truck in park, and key off with a meter from ground to pin #11 ( Black w/ pink stripe wire ) to see if there is + VDC.
I would not expect the trailer tow adapter reversing relay to be causing this ( that is the coil side ) but if you have + VDC with the truck in park & key off, might want to pull this relay if installed, just to isolate it from the reverse lamps.
With the trailer tow adapter out, and you still find power, disconnect the DTR from the truck's harness and meter from pin #9 to pin #11 to see if it is shorted. If so, might be easiest to replace the DTR rather than try to figure out what is going on inside it.
