Cruise control and mirror adjustment not working
Cruise control and mirror adjustment not working
Just bought the 2005 f150 with 5.4 engine and have no cruise control or mirror adjustment. Not sure where to start. I checked the mirror fuse and it's good but not sure what fuse is for the cruise control?
So I began checking them all. Should all fuses in the block have power all the time? I found Two that didn't seem to light up the circuit but the fuse was fine. Are there some which would only have power to them with a relay open or something. Any help would be great.

"I found Terri that didn't seem to light up the circuit " ?
Not too sure who Terri is or why she would light up a circuit.
Power mirrors - did you pull the door panel, and check for power at the back fo the switch ?
The circuit that should have power is the Orange w/ Light green stripe wire.
The CC - Did you change your tail lights to LEDs ?
do they work correctly ?

Dang you auto correct. There were two fuses that didn't light up. Not Terri's. I have not checked at the switch yet. I will do that this morning and go from there. I did not change the third brake light to led it is stock and working fine.
Well I do have power to the switch so I'm assuming I need to replace the switch. So, that should mean they're unrelated right. Any ideas on the cruise control then? Anyone know for sure which fuse it should be on?
Fuse # 14 feeds the deactivation switch.
This is the switch at the top of the brake pedal, not the stop lamp switch / shift interlock. That is on the side and lower.
The deactivation circuit is off when + VDC is applied to the PCM, when the brake pedal is pushed down, the switch opens and + VDC is removed, and the CC is shut off.
The circuit is :
Fuse #14 - Light Blue w/ Pink stripe wire -> switch -> Black w/ yellow stripe wire -> PCM.
With the brake pedal off, there should be + VDC on the Black w/ yellow stripe wire.
When you say you did not change the CHMSL , does that mean you switched the other 2 stop / turn / tail lamps to LED ?
If so, did you install the Load resistors ?

Is this too late?
hey i found your post searching for a replacement to my side view mirror adjustment switch. i just read a few of the comments so i don't know if you have already fixed it or what
here is what i know.
if you open up the switch. you can do that by prying open the pannel with the window, mirror and door lock controls with a flat head screwdriver then unplug the mirror control switch wires and just pull the joystick looking mirror control out of the panel. to open the mirror control you will have to pry open the top and bottom halves with a small fathead. pull the computer chip looking part out the silicon bored with copper strips on it. in my case some of them on the bottom are worn off. yours may just have a bunch of gunk on them (that happened to my window control switches) if so just get a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and clean the copper. if the copper is warn off i don't know what to tell you because im still trying to figure this out myself (just buy a new switch is one thing you can do) if everything on the top and the bottem of this bored looks good then i guess you just eliminated one cause from the list.
im pretty sure the switch is worn out because i have a 2006 f150 and mine has been worn out for a year or 2 now.
as far as the cruse control you may try pulling off the cover for that. you can do it with your hand. there will be a rubber sheet in between the plastic buttons and the silicon bored. on the back side of the rubber sheet will be two copper dots. one at the top and one at the bottom one for on and one for off. if you leave the rubber sheet like it is and press it on the top so the copper makes contact with the copper on the board it may turn on. the only problem with this is that it will turn off every time you turn your truck off.
and it may just be a fuse. but i do know you can save some money by checking this stuff before you buy a new switch or taking it to the ford house and letting them make up crap and selling you 500 dollars worth of stuff you don't need.
also im sure everything i said will be hard to fallow because it was hard for me to try and say it. if you want to try any of that and need me to send pictures or anything just let me know.
good luck
