when you shut the truck off and open the door it chimes the first little bit that you open it and then when the door is fully opened it stops dinging and the door locks won't work. to lock it you have to do it after the door has barely opened.
what can i do so i don't have to take it do the dealership?

I am going to take a total stab in the dark, and say you have a broken wire in the rubber boot from the door to the A pillar.

I get here with the door latch switching ground to indicate if the door is open or closed and the power locks no longer working.

I would suspect it is a black wire that is broken.

 

if i open the wire tube thingy, should I see a broken wire? then what do I do?

 

I suspect you will see a broken wire. If you do find it, it needs to be repaired. This is all pontification at the moment until you take a look
