No lights in my 2001 steering wheel. Why?
No lights in my 2001 steering wheel. Why?
I'm a newb here, so forgive me if this info is basic knowledge or posted elsewhere. I couldn't find anything about it.
When I bought my truck in 05 the lights on one side of the steering wheel did not work, so the dealer had the lights repaired. They worked for 2 weeks after that, then they went out on both sides. Never pressed the issue as I never really needed them, and it really didn't bother me. As time went by I kinda felt like I wanted them. I checked fuses and found none burnt out. Where do I need to look, and what do I need to do to make them function?
Thanks for any help.

The instrument illumination circuit, is a single circuit from CJB Fuse # 18. This is for the cluster, HVAC panel, etc.
If there is an issue with the steering wheel controls, I would suspect the clock spring to be the issue.
did you ask the dealer what they did back when they fixed the one side ?

No, I never questioned it with them. Should have, but was in the middle of the deal when my father passed. It wasn't near the top of my list of priorities at the time. Tell me about this 'Clock Spring'?
Thank you.
Thank you.
the clock spring is the sliding contact plate that routes circuits to the steering wheel. The airbag, CC circuits each have a trace on the clock spring.
