Has anyone experienced this, my power seat moves a little bit and stops, wait awhile and try again does the same thing. Takes forever to adjust the seat. Any ideas. Thanks

Just a pontification, but it sounds like the seat track is binding up, and causing the motor to go into thermo-shut down.

The increased AMP draw is just under either the duration or the value ( or both ) for the current inrush.

Just a SWAG, might be worth taking a look at the screws to the motor, and the seat track, and see if anything is bent.

Same as above :
Check the screws to the motor, and the seat track, and see if anything is bent or if anything is stuck in the track.

The 97 MY was not known to have a lot of problems and with the age it could be the seat left all the way back for 20 years and someone the size of me ( corn fed midwest ) driving it causing the tracks to slowly bend over the years.
