Hey all,

I am writing this for a friend who is not very internet forum saavy, so here goes: He is beyond frustrated with his fairly new F150 truck which keeps honking (the alarm) every time he turns it on. If the key is merely in the ignition, it doesn't set the alarm off, but if he turns it all the way on, the honking begins and it's frustrating him, as it wakes up the entire neighborhood. He says he has taken the truck back to the dealership where he bought it but they weren't able to help at all. I forget what excuse they gave him, so I can't say. But is there anything he can do to either disable the alarm (at this point he doesn't care about the alarm or being prone to theft) or get this problem fixed? Anyone else experience this and how did they fix it? He has no idea what could be causing it, but it happened every now and then during the winter months and it's getting worse he says now during the summer, for some reason.

Are we supposed to guess what he's got?

Take it to a shop where they understand the system that is installed in his truck, especially if it's aftermarket.

 

Sorry, he has a 2010 f150. I think he figured it out. It seems from looking in his car manual for answers, he found out that if you have a heavy object hanging from your fob keychain, it will set off the alarm for some reason. He decided to try it out, remove the offending object and the alarm has so far stopped going off. Go figure. Thanks anyway.
