Well i have had a problem with my brake light flickering on the dash for months now (see brake light in this section) and i finally got it.....it's the dash cluster if you push on the circuit board the light will come on and off.My question is my truck right now does not have a factory tach in the cluster, if i was too get a used cluster from a truck that has a tach will it work and will it show my mileage or the truck it came from. and if so what would i have to do to make this all work?

If I am not mistaken, the 04-08 MY are just like the 99-03 MY, the milage is in the cluster.

Same for the RFIDs in the PATS key programmed to the truck along with the PCM ID parameter cleared so they can resync.

You will need to have the keys programed at a dealer or a high end mechanic.

The mileage, they need to send the cluster out to have the correct reading programed into the repalcement cluster.

 

Did some reserch and found that yes the mileage is stored in the cluster however the PATS system on the 04-08 is not.... that info is stored in the PCM and is activated via the key cylinder and all i would need is to have the correct mileage programmed into the cluster i want as long as the used one does not have a message center as i do not have any compass or outside temp sensor avalible in my truck.

 

I have been having this same issue for the past few months. Just curious... which dash do you have? I have a STX with the basic black speedo.

I have tried replacing the switches that turn that light off with no luck. I might just have to break down and put in a new cluster... maybe an FX4 one.

How much will programming the new cluster cost.
