Brake Light problem 2002 Expedition
Brake Light problem 2002 Expedition
Upper brake light will come on, both lower brake lights will not. Everything else is working. Where is the connector located where the upper light wire splits off the main brake light wires?
Usually this is an indicator of the MFS connector behind the kick panel is puled apart.
Quick test, raise the tilt all the way up on the wheel, and see if they work again.

Thanks, found the connector and traced wire to connector. The tilt trick did not work, disconnected and reconnected MFS, still did not work. Just jumped connector with wire and everything now works.
the high mount stop lamp does not run through the MFS this runs directly through the brake light switch on it's own circuit this is a failsafe so at least one light will work if the MFS fails. if the lower lights are not working i would replace that MFS big problems with them
Found problem with brake lights not working.
Thanks for the help.
I realized my jumping of the connector at the kick panel did not solve the problem. I had signal lights not working when brake lights were on. I have since disconnected the jumper wire.
I checked the MFS and found 3 of the wires had backed out of the connector going into MFS. I re-installed all three wires and secured them from backing out again. All lights are now working properly.
NOTE: I remembered after I found the loose wires that I had run into the same problem on my 99 F150 about 3 years ago (Bad case of advanced CRS). This is the first thing I would check if you experience any lights that are controlled by the MFS is to check the wires going into the connector.

Thinking back in the beginning I may have only had one wire loose and when I disconnected and reconnected the connector into the MFS it may have caused the other two wires to back out and not make connection.
