Major reliability/starting/idle issues. HELP
I posted in General Discussion a thread titled "LEMON" and asking for help, with my problems with my F150, 5.4l, Y2K, Here is the jist of it:
1. Wont start when cold, and were not talking ice, just parked in the shade over night in CA. It takes maybe 20 or so cranking attempts to turn over. If i wait till noon when it warms up to start it the first time that day- it will start right up the first time.
2. Stalls all the time. (not gas related). Just dies on me while driving (sometimes up hill, sometimes flat or declines too). Sometimes the battery gage will fall to zero when it dies (even though i have power, and lights dont dimm or anything) and sometimes the batt stays at full charge. The last time it died on me, i lost the tach (when i start it up, no movement on rpm gage) and my odometer just shows midline barrs going accross.
3. From the last stall, it wont idle any more. It reves up, then stumbles and almost dies, then reves up and repeats, and if i hold the rpms higher, and shift to drive, it will still die right away.
Its at the dealer now for the third time since i bought it about 9 months ago. Any idea what the problem is???

I pulled out the computer and found what i think the problem is. The wiring harness screw/bolt is broken off into the pem. That would explain why it was loose, and would occasionally stall. $100 says ford wont warranty it. Ill try to drill it out myself, and hope i dont strip the threds too much.
