Unhappy programming remote start

I installed a factory remote start in my 2001 supercrew and I can't get it to go into program mode. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

About the only thing to program on the Bronze RMST is new RMST fobs.

Adding Remote Controls to Your System:
The system has the ability to operate from up to eight (8) remote controls. Follow
these instructions to add a remote control to your system.
1. Turn vehicle ignition on.
2. Press and hold in the brake pedal.
3. Press and hold programming/override button under the instrument panel.
After 15 seconds, the horn will chirp three (3) times. This indicates that the unit
has entered the remote control programming mode. The brake pedal can be
released at this time.
4. Release the programming/override button.
5. Press the button on the remote control to be programmed.
The horn will sound once, indicating that the system has “learned” that remote
control.
6. Repeat step 5 for any additional remote controls.
7. Turn the vehicle ignition off to exit the programming mode. Test all remote
controls to ensure that they work properly.
The Silver RMST start / RKE has this and a note about other options

Your Systems Programmable Operating Characteristics:
Your PowerCode system has several programmable settings such as Ignition
triggered door lock, Ignition triggered door unlock and automatic arming features
which can be changed to tailor your systems operation to your own personal desires
and/or requirements. If you are interested in changing any of these settings, call
1-800-FORD-KEY for information regarding the different programmable features and
the steps to change the settings.
Forgot I had this URL, just checked and it is still valid as of today

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately that is the instructions that came with the unit, but when I tried it the horn never chirpped and the remote start function does not work. the new remotes will lock and unlock the doors but wont start the engine.

The horn I would say is a mis-wire, that should work by default.

Do you get any flash codes from the RMST unit's LED

Could be the PATS bypass is not programmed to the truck, or the Tach learn is not completed.

The horn will chirp if I push the unlock button twice, so I don't think it's mis-wired. I do get led signals when the doors are locked by the remote. I think it probably is the securilock interface that is not working properly.

When does the horn not chirp then ( only trying programming mode ) ?

The trouble shooting guide in the link above

System will not go into programming?
· Check for 12volts positive and for good ground at the module.
· Check the connection on the A-20 green/violet wire. On certain vehicles
you might have to change the polarity on this wire in programming.
· Check the connection on the A-7 pink wire. Make sure it has 12volts in
key on and run position.
· Check the override/programming button.
· Check the connection on the B-7 brown wire. (2W7Z-19G364-CA only).
Is this what happens when you try to remote start ( same t-shoot PDF ) :

PATS light comes on and vehicle won’t remote start?
· Make sure the Securilok Interface Kit is programmed correctly.
· Check antenna ring mounting around ignition cylinder.
· Make sure that you have the correct PATS bypass kit for your vehicle.
· Make sure that PATS bypass kit is plugged into the correct location.
