Anti-theft light, no start problem.
OK, I've gone through about 20 pages, and not found my exact problem, so here goes. My buddy has an 04 f-150, 2 wd 4.6 auto. His alternator went bad, and being a few days from payday, and only having a 15 min. drive to work, he just charged the battery every night and drove the truck. So he gets paid, buys an alternator, and starts his truck to bring it to our shop to change it. As he's backing out hi driveway, the truck dies, and will not refire. We tow it to the shop, replace the alternator, charge the battery, then on to the good stuff. Checked fuel pressure, very low, as in it just dribbles out the test port. Checked fuel relay, it checks good. Jumped the wires at the pump, and it runs. then I notice the theft light is constantly flashing with the key on. this truck was bought used with no keyfob and has manual windows and locks. Is there some easy way to reset the theft system? Or does this mean a trip to the dealer? Also, will not let code reader communicate with obd2. It worked fine before.

So I take another try at it tonite, NOW when you turn the key to the ON position, only two of the lights on the right hand side of the dash light up, turn it off and on, sometimes all the gauges and lights and chimes come on like they are supposed to, most times not. Any Ideas? Could a worn out keyswitch cause this stuff? I ask this because there seems to be excessive play in the switch. If we change the switch or even the column, is there any programming that has to be redone?
Had the locksmith out and replaced the worn out keyswitch, but when he went to program it on the first two tries it did not work. the third time ,still did not accept it, but his machine did tell him that there was a fault in the "Hybrid Electric Cluster" Any body know what and where this is?
The HEC is in the cluster itself.
Has been some time, but I seem to recall it is attached to the cluster with a pin connector ( the 2 rows of 30 or so pins ).
Drawing a blank if it is on the back of the cluster or under the gauge face.
The key cylinder might have been worn, but if the Locksmiths PATS tool is showing an error, this is probably the source of your problems all along.
