instrument cluster swap
instrument cluster swap
OK, so i have a 98 Stepside Scab with a 5.4 only problem is it has a mechanical instrument cluster and a lot of the options on my EDGE Evo arnt compatable with a mechanical cluster
. Has anyone ever heard of someone swapping in a digital cluster?? My father has a 2001 Scab with a digital and i know i rather have that, being able to fix my speedo would be great cuz of my larger tires. any suggestions or ideass??

I have not taken a look at the 97/98 cluster cell, but looking at the 2001 I see way too many things that are not the same, and not an easy change with this.
My initial thoughts were no way it could be done, and after checking the level of interaction on the 2001 EVTM to the PCM, I confirmed my thoughts.
The speedo change on the 97/98, isn't this just a "gear change " ?
Might want to check the 97/98 forum on this topic to be sure, but my memory ( as unreliable as it can be at times ) is telling me this is the case with the 97/98 MY trucks.

The cluster change isn't going to help with the speedo. The speedo on 97/98 are gear driven in the transmissions. Like older cars and trucks. They are cheap to replace. Talk to a transmission shop about your rear end gears and tire size and the should be able to get you the right gears to correct your speedo. I know thejake1998 did this so you could probably pm him.
